VOL. 8, NO. 1
This issue of The Defender has some very sad news. On the heels of the judicial murder of Terri Schiavo
and the death of Pope John Paul ll, we have lost our most beloved Fred Paschall. Fred was one of the three founders of the Defenders of the Faith and our key writer.
All of us were motivated in many ways by Fred. He wrote all of the teaching articles for The Defender because of his deep knowledge of the Catholic Church. He was my
teacher, spiritual advisor, and dear friend. He will be missed in so many ways and by so many people. We have included an ‘In Memoriam’ about Fred as well as a letter
from a good friend. In addition, we are re-publishing one of his articles that deal with a most difficult subject -- Artificial Contraception. This is a topic which is rarely heard from the altar and the reason The Defender was founded by Fred. He believed that Catholics need an informed conscience.
We have two articles regarding Terri Schiavo. One article deals with The Dishonest Media as you may suspect. The other article,
Waltzing with the Pope, is written by Nancy Cecilia Murray, a fellow member of the Catholic Media Coalition. She provides the reader with her viewpoint of the unusual ‘coincidences’ between the suffering and death of Terri Schiavo and the suffering and death of our Pope. You will enjoy reading this article. Excellent writers like Nancy are the reason we are members of the Catholic Media Coalition (another organization Fred Paschall helped to establish).
Our special article in this issue is about how Planned Parenthood (PPFA) is carrying out the misguided ideas of Margaret Sanger’s “Negro Project” all with the
unbelievable help of the Black community (and especially the clergy) who sought to raise the economic status of the Black race. Interestingly, this all ties in with Fred’s article on
artificial contraception. Financed by endowment and by taxes, PPFA systematically placed its facilities in the poor, Black communities. There they dispensed contraceptives and now abortions in their planned genocide of the Black community. Sanger has been very successful. Blacks, who make up 12 percent of the population in this county, account for 32 percent of the abortions. Over 1,450 Black infants are killed daily in the US. This article was written by a new member of The Defenders, Mary Solsbak.
You will be reading more of her articles in the future.
Our Modern Day Saint article in this issue is about modern day martyrs. The untold story of our times is the number of Christians murdered throughout the world. Our article is about Jiang Zongxiu murdered by Chinese police in a country that claims to have religious freedom and which our government awards “most favored status.” Other martyrs of 2004 are also described. This may be an eye opener to some of our readers.
