The article “USCCB and Pogo” by Jim Fritz put words to the daily heartbreak endured by Catholics for a long time. Reading his words once again raises the question regarding the existence of the USCCB. From its beginning it has done more harm than good. Why is it being allowed to exist? Any decision made there, even if it was a desirable decision, is not binding to any Bishop or to any Bishop’s diocese. It seems to be patterned after the US Government ---- any committee, useful or not, formed by Washington, DC is the closest example on earth of eternal life --- it just goes on and on.
